On the May 11 broadcast of KBS Joy’s variety show “Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller,” Yuju appeared as a guest and shared her concerns.
During the episode, Yuju revealed, “Ever since I started my solo activities, whenever I begin preparing for an album, I become extremely sensitive and completely lose my appetite.”
Standing at 169cm tall and weighing only 45kg, Yuju said, “I weighed 52kg during my GFRIEND days, but I lost even more weight after going solo.” She added, “I also had the careless thought that losing weight would make me look prettier on camera.”
She then shocked everyone by confessing, “There was even a time when I collapsed alone at home and later regained consciousness.”
Yuju explained, “Even if I only ate three spoonfuls of food, I couldn’t eat anymore, so I underwent a gastroscopy examination.” She continued, “The results showed nothing physically wrong, but doctors told me it could be psychological and recommended psychiatric treatment.”
The singer also revealed that she noticed something strange with her ears while recording music. Yuju said, “There’s fat even inside the eardrum,” adding, “The hospital told me that even the fat around my eardrums had disappeared, and that I needed to eat properly,” surprising everyone on set.
She continued, “I’m very ambitious about my career. I think the emotional pressure started showing physically.”
Lee Soo Geun empathized with her situation, saying, “Unlike group activities, the pressure of having to fill the stage alone must have been huge. There are so many things to worry about, so it seems like you even lost your appetite because of the stress.”
