On April 27, the production presentation for the Disney+ original series Gold Land was held at Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeouido. The event was attended by cast members including Park Bo Young, Kim Sung Cheol, Lee Hyun Wook, Kim Hee Won, Moon Jung Hee, Lee Kwang Soo, and director Kim Sung Hoon.

During the event, Lee Kwang Soo shared, “I suggested the idea to the director, but later when people started paying attention to the gold teeth, he said, ‘That was actually my idea.’” He added, “The director even asked if I really didn’t remember and insisted it was his idea first, but I clearly remember that I came up with it.” He also emphasized that he was never compensated for the gold teeth concept.

In response, director Kim Sung Hoon offered his side of the story, saying, “Honestly, I could just say it was Lee Kwang Soo’s idea, but I’ll clarify. He did suggest, ‘What if we use gold teeth?’ But I thought ordinary gold teeth would be too predictable, so I proposed adding a frame design like a window structure. He didn’t quite understand at first, so I even drew it out to explain.”

Hearing this, Lee Kwang Soo jokingly replied, “If I get the chance, I’ll reveal our text messages. This isn’t something I can just let slide,” adding with a laugh that the idea contribution was “about 80 to 20.”

Meanwhile, Gold Land is a survival thriller that follows Hee Joo (played by Park Bo Young), who gets her hands on gold bars worth 150 billion won from a smuggling ring and fights to claim them amid greed and betrayal. The series will consist of 10 episodes and is set to premiere on April 29, releasing two episodes per week.
