On April 15, Vata’s agency Ara released an official statement, saying, “We have refrained from responding as the claims were not worth addressing. However, as some media outlets reported false posts without verification, we would like to clearly state that the allegations are completely unfounded.”
The agency further clarified, “He has never been in a six-year relationship as claimed, and his most recent relationship and breakup both occurred three years ago.”
Earlier on April 13, Ji Ye Eun’s agency CP Entertainment and Vata’s agency Ara stated, “The two have been colleagues and recently developed mutual feelings. We ask for your warm support,” confirming their romance. Both born in 1994, they reportedly met through church and gradually developed into a couple.
However, shortly after the announcement, so-called “prophetic posts” from an online community began gaining attention. A netizen had reportedly been documenting their relationship as early as July last year—about 10 months before the official confirmation—detailing their interactions almost in real time.
The writer initially claimed, “Choreographer Vata has a crush on Ji Ye Eun,” and added that the two frequently spent time together at church due to their shared faith. The posts went further, predicting that their relationship would evolve beyond friendship.
The credibility of the posts increased as some details later proved accurate, including Vata’s involvement in choreographing a new song by a project group formed by Ji Ye Eun and Ji Suk Jin.
The controversy, however, stems from claims of a possible “rebound relationship.” The same writer alleged that around October, “Vata became interested in Ji Ye Eun right after breaking up with his girlfriend of six years,” adding sympathy for the former partner.
As earlier claims about their connection—such as their church ties and professional collaboration—turned out to be true, some netizens are now speculating whether the timeline of the breakup and new relationship might also align with the “rebound” narrative.
Public reaction remains divided. Some expressed disappointment, saying the details in the viral post were “too specific to ignore,” while others urged caution, emphasizing that anonymous online posts should not be treated as verified facts and that baseless criticism should be avoided.
Meanwhile, Ji Ye Eun has risen as a popular variety star through shows like SNL Korea and Running Man, and is set to appear in the upcoming Netflix variety show Jae Seok’s B&B Rules! this May.
Vata, the leader of the dance crew We Dem Boyz, gained widespread recognition after finishing as runner-up on Street Man Fighter. He has since established himself as a top-tier choreographer, working on hits like Zico’s New Thing and choreography for Jennie.
