According to reports, the March 7 broadcast of the MBC variety show will showcase Hwang Jae-gyun’s “second chapter of life” following his retirement from professional baseball.
From “Unemployed Life” to Strict Self-Management

In earlier appearances, Hwang Jae-gyun surprised viewers with his relaxed post-retirement lifestyle, sleeping in without alarms and casually eating meals like french fries and cola.

However, the new episode will show a completely different side of him. The former athlete now wakes up every day at 6 a.m., maintaining a strict routine similar to his days as a professional player. His diet has also become highly disciplined. Hwang reportedly eats 10 egg whites at every meal, carefully managing his nutrition to stay in top physical condition.

Hwang Jae-gyun has also taken on a challenging CrossFit training routine. The show will reveal scenes of him participating in intense early-morning workouts alongside MMA fighter Kim Dong-hyun and Amotti, the winner of Physical: 100 Season 2 . Their demanding training sessions reportedly surprised the studio panelists with the level of intensity.
Signing With SM C&C After Retirement
Another highlight of the episode is Hwang Jae-gyun’s recent move into the entertainment industry. The former baseball star signed an exclusive contract with SM C&C, opening a new chapter in his career.

Interestingly, he reportedly included a special condition in the contract, he wanted to continue working with his longtime manager of 22 years. The manager joined the company alongside him, starting his first-ever “official office job” with full employee benefits. His arrival with luggage large enough for international travel reportedly brought laughter on set.

Hwang Jae-gyun married Jiyeon, a member of the girl group T-ara, in 2022. However, the couple finalized their divorce mediation in 2024. During a previous appearance on the JTBC program Yes Man , Hwang reportedly looked embarrassed and lowered his head when the name T-ara was mentioned. Fans will be able to see more of Hwang Jae-gyun’s new life in The Manager , which airs every Saturday at 11 p.m. on MBC.
