Biography

Cho Mi-yeon, known mononymously as Miyeon, is a South Korean singer, actress, and television host. She is the main vocalist and visual of the South Korean girl group I‑dle under Cube Entertainment, and has also pursued solo music and acting projects. Miyeon is recognized for her vocal ability, elegant stage presence, and versatile artistic career spanning group, solo, and multimedia activities.

Early Life and Education

Miyeon was born Cho Mi-yeon on January 31, 1997, in Incheon, South Korea. She grew up as an only child, and demonstrated a strong passion for music from a young age, influenced and supported by her father. Her parents encouraged her musical development by enrolling her in music classes where she studied violin, guitar, and piano.

During her youth, Miyeon auditioned for YG Entertainment and trained there for approximately five years, where she was originally slated to debut in a girl group lineup. However, her debut at YG did not materialize and she eventually left the company before joining Cube Entertainment to continue her path toward debut.

Career

Debut with I-dle (2018–present)

Miyeon debuted as a member of the girl group I-dle on May 2, 2018, with the release of their debut extended play I Am and the lead single “Latata.” Since debut, she has served as the group’s main vocalist and visual, contributing significantly to the group’s identity and musical performances. I-dle has been noted for its versatility and success within the global K-pop scene.

In addition to her group activities, Miyeon has participated in the virtual music project K/DA, voicing the character Ahri, which connects K-pop with League of Legends multimedia projects.

Solo Music and Other Projects

Miyeon expanded her career into solo music with the release of her first solo extended play MY on April 27, 2022. The project showcased her individual musical style and further established her presence as a solo artist in addition to her group work.

In November 2025, she released her second solo mini-album MY, Lover, marking a more personal and mature musical chapter that explores emotional depth and artistic evolution.

Acting and Media Activities

In addition to music, Miyeon has pursued acting and broadcasting work. She has appeared in various television programs, served as a host for music shows, and is recognized for her presence on variety and entertainment programs, demonstrating her versatility beyond music performance.
