On February 2, Ahn Young Mi personally revealed the news during a live broadcast of MBC Radio’s Two O’Clock Date with Ahn Young Mi. She explained that listeners had already begun to sense something was different about her and confirmed their suspicions, saying she was already well into the middle stage of her pregnancy. Because of her age, she admitted she had been extremely cautious and deliberately kept the news private until now. “I’m 44 years old. This is considered advanced maternal age, so I held it in and stayed careful every single day,” she said candidly on air.
Ahn Young Mi married her husband, an office worker employed by a foreign company, in 2020 and gave birth to their first son in July 2023. She had previously expressed her desire for a second child on several occasions. On KBS 2TV’s The Return of Superman early last year, she openly shared her wish to have another baby within the year. That hope became reality, as she successfully conceived and is now due to give birth this coming July.

She also shared a lighthearted anecdote involving singer Navi, who is currently pregnant with her second child as well. Ahn recalled joking about getting pregnant together, only for Navi to announce her pregnancy the very next week. Soon after, Ahn herself became pregnant. Laughing, she said it made her believe in “the power of words” and thanked everyone for their warm congratulations, even admitting she felt a bit flustered announcing such personal news live on air.
Despite her cheerful tone, Ahn did not shy away from expressing her anxieties. She revealed that both her first and second pregnancies were considered late pregnancies, and this time she feels even more cautious, describing each day as “walking a tightrope.” Still, she decided the timing was stable enough to finally share the news. She added that although rumors once circulated about health issues, she has been gaining weight everywhere except her face and hopes her experience can give hope to others.

Ahn also shared that she told her mother as soon as she found out, joking that her mother then spread the news all around her neighborhood. The baby’s nickname has already been chosen as “Ddakdong,” a playful follow-up to her first child’s nickname. The baby is due in July, just like her first son, raising the possibility that the siblings may even share a birthday. She confirmed the baby is a boy and that she plans to give birth via cesarean section.
Reflecting on her decision, Ahn Young Mi confessed she struggled with the choice. She worried whether it made sense to have a second child when she was already busy caring for her first. Ultimately, her strong desire to give her son a sibling and the realization that “if not now, then never” led her to take the leap. With honesty, humor, and vulnerability, Ahn Young Mi once again connected deeply with audiences, turning her personal journey into a story of courage and hope.
