Season 2 of Extraordinary Attorney Woo is officially in pre-production, with screenwriter Moon Ji-won currently working on the script. According to industry insiders on January 29, production company AStory has launched the development phase following the success of international remakes of Season 1.
A source familiar with the situation confirmed, “Production for Season 2 is proceeding normally, and the writer is actively working on the script.”
Originally aired in 2022, Extraordinary Attorney Woo captivated viewers with its story of Woo Young-woo (played by Park Eun-bin), a brilliant rookie lawyer on the autism spectrum navigating life at a major law firm. The final episode recorded an impressive 17.5% viewership rating, making it the highest-rated ENA drama to date.
Since its conclusion, fans and critics alike have called for a second season. AStory initially aimed for a 2024 release and signed a scriptwriting contract with Moon Ji-won in 2023. However, delays in the scriptwriting process have also postponed casting decisions. Park Eun-bin, who portrayed the titular role, mentioned in a past interview that she had yet to receive any official contact regarding casting for the new season.
Once script development and casting are complete, the production can proceed to filming. Many are curious whether the new season will retain the original cast, director, writer, and core production team.
AStory is optimistic about the global momentum Season 1 has gained through remake deals. The company is currently pursuing remakes in the U.S., Japan, and various European countries and plans to oversee everything from pre-production to adaptation and scheduling for these international versions.
A company representative stated, “These global projects may help accelerate the production of Season 2.”
