Actress Park Shin Hye’s mother shared an emotional behind-the-scenes story as the veteran star appears on the January 30 episode of SBS’s variety show My Grumpy Secretary.
Park Shin Hye, known as a “ratings queen,” joins as the 16th “My Star” on the program, where the hosts shadow her schedule, including a magazine photoshoot and her agency’s New Year gathering. Her reunion with cast members Lee Seo Jin and Kim Kwang Gyu whom she has known since their days on the variety show Three Meals a Day is already generating buzz among fans.

After wrapping up their duties for singer Nam Jin in the previous episode, the My Grumpy Secretary duo promise to return to their “strict manager” personas. They show up unannounced before Park Shin Hye’s makeup session, jokingly call her “just a strong seller,” and tease, “You’ve aged too.”
However, the lighthearted mood shifts when Park Shin Hye starts showing signs of a cold during the shoot. Her coughing raises concern, prompting the hosts to check on her and even look up hospitals marking the show’s first-ever “sick care” duty. Despite vision issues, Kim Kwang Gyu steps up to sew props on set to ensure the shoot runs smoothly.

After recovering, Park Shin Hye continues to her agency’s New Year gathering, where she impresses with her expert grilling skills living up to her “restaurant daughter” image. The warm gathering includes her parents, and it’s here that her mother shares a touching confession: “When I saw her get slapped in a scene, I had to go to the bathroom to wipe my tears.”
Lee Seo Jin later lightens the mood by revealing his own tear-jerking acting trick, saying, “I cried for two weeks straight,” which adds to the curiosity.
The episode highlights the warmth, care, and behind-the-scenes emotions that come with managing and supporting a beloved star. Tune in to My Grumpy Secretary tonight at 11:10 PM KST on SBS to witness Park Shin Hye’s heartfelt moments and the devoted care of her quirky managers.
