Johnny is a Korean-American singer, rapper, dancer, and performer. He is a member of the South Korean boy band NCT 127 and participates in the rotational unit NCT U, both under SM Entertainment. Johnny is known for his strong stage presence, charismatic performance style, and multilingual ability, which have contributed to his long-standing role within NCT’s global activities.

Early Life and Education

Johnny was born John Jun Suh on February 9, 1995, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He grew up in Chicago and is an only child. Johnny attended Glenbrook North High School in Illinois before moving to South Korea to pursue his training as an idol. He also studied at the School of Performing Arts Seoul while preparing for his debut.

Career

Pre-Debut and Training

Johnny was accepted into SM Entertainment through the SM Global Audition in Chicago in 2007. He trained with the company for several years, developing skills in vocals, dance, rap, and stage performance before his official debut.

Debut with NCT 127 and NCT U (2017–Present)

Johnny made his official debut as a member of NCT 127 on January 5, 2017, with the group’s release of Limitless and related promotions. As part of NCT 127, he serves primarily as lead dancer, sub-rapper, and sub-vocalist. He has also been featured in NCT U activities, contributing to the broader NCT discography and group projects.
