Biography
Jaehee is a South Korean singer and performer under SM Entertainment. He is a member of the South Korean boy band NCT and its Tokyo-based sub-unit NCT WISH. Jaehee debuted with NCT WISH in February 2024, following his successful participation in the survival program NCT Universe: LASTART.
Early Life and Education
Kim Dae-young was born on June 21, 2005, in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, South Korea. He grew up with two older brothers and showed a strong interest in music from a young age. Jaehee joined SM Entertainment as a trainee in 2023 and trained for approximately three months before being selected for debut. His early exposure to singing and performance shaped his path toward becoming a professional vocalist.
Career
Pre-Debut and NCT Universe: LASTART (2023)
In 2023, Jaehee participated in NCT Universe: LASTART, a reality survival program produced by SM Entertainment to determine members of the upcoming NCT sub-unit. Competing against other trainees, he finished in third place, securing his spot as a member of the new group.
Debut with NCT WISH (2024–Present)
Jaehee officially debuted as a member of NCT WISH on February 28, 2024, when the group released their debut single Wish in both Korean and Japanese versions. NCT WISH is the sixth and final sub-unit of NCT, promoting actively in both South Korea and Japan.
Within NCT WISH, Jaehee serves as main vocalist, recognized for his soaring vocal range and falsetto abilities. He has drawn attention for his expressive stage presence and musical versatility, often highlighted through live performances and variety appearances.

In October 2022, Jaehee performed “Hello” by Huh Gak with his friends at a school festival while attending Yeongnam High School. A video of the performance was later uploaded to YouTube. After watching the video, an SM Entertainment casting manager contacted Jaehee via direct message.

For his audition, Jaehee prepared the song “You in My Dream.” During the evaluation, the judges asked him to sing several additional songs, including “To Meet You.”
