SBS held the production press conference for its new Friday–Saturday drama No Tail to Tell on January 16 at the SBS headquarters in Mok-dong, Seoul. Attending the event were lead actress Kim Hye Yoon, co-star Lomon, and director Kim Jung Kwon.
No Tail to Tell is a fantasy romance that follows an MZ-generation gumiho who has no interest in becoming human and a self-absorbed human whose life changes due to one impulsive decision. The story centers on Eun Ho (played by Kim Hye Yoon), a gumiho who has tried everything except dating, and Kang Si Yeol (played by Lomon), a world-class soccer star whose fate shifts dramatically. Their relationship evolves from mutual dislike into destiny-driven romance.
Director Kim Jung Kwon described the drama as “a fairy tale for adults.” He explained, “It’s not just a sweet romantic story. Like The Little Prince, I hope viewers feel a lasting emotional resonance after watching.”

Kim Hye Yoon introduced her character by saying, “The gumiho I knew growing up wanted to become human by eating nine human livers. Eun Ho is different she refuses to become human and wants to live forever as a gumiho.” Lomon added that his character Kang Si Yeol is “a global soccer star who achieved success through relentless effort, overflowing with confidence and self-love.”
Director Kim praised both actors’ commitment, emphasizing sincerity as the core of fantasy storytelling. “Fantasy is like magic people know it’s not real, but they still want to believe. Kim Hye Yoon and Lomon acted with more sincerity than anyone I’ve worked with before. I’m confident this is a very good drama.”
He highlighted Kim Hye Yoon’s unique presence as an MZ gumiho, noting that viewers would see a version of the mythical character never portrayed before. He also praised Lomon for his maturity, purity, and strong on-set chemistry with his co-star.

Kim Hye Yoon explained why she chose No Tail to Tell following the massive success of Lovely Runner. “When choosing projects, I always try to show something different from before. Eun Ho has a completely different charm she’s flashy and nothing like Sol. I felt this role could clearly set me apart,” she said. She admitted feeling “half excited, half pressured” about returning after such a popular project.
Known as a “rom-com fairy,” Kim Hye Yoon received high praise from Lomon, who said, “This is my first romantic comedy, and it was an honor to work with her. I understood why she’s called a rom-com queen.” Kim responded warmly, thanking him for his thoughtfulness on set, including bringing her vitamins and chocolate when she was exhausted.
Lomon revealed that he drew inspiration from Son Heung Min and Zlatan Ibrahimović when portraying Kang Si Yeol. He even sent a video message to Son Heung Min, expressing gratitude and asking viewers to support the drama.

Discussing how her gumiho differs from past portrayals, Kim Hye Yoon teased bold styling choices. “I’ve never appeared this glamorous before. From hair to makeup to outfits, Eun Ho is visually very striking.”
With the drama airing after SBS’s hit series Taxi Driver 3, director Kim admitted feeling pressure but embraced the challenge. “We’re the leadoff batter of SBS’s 2026 drama lineup. Our goal is simply to get on base and I believe we will.”
For ratings pledges, the director expressed hope for 11.10% or 11.11% viewership, referencing Kim Hye Yoon and Lomon’s birthdays. Kim suggested filming trending social media reels if the goal is met, while Lomon promised to appear on Kick a Goal (Goal-ddeonyeo).
Describing their characters’ relationship, Kim said, “To Eun Ho, Kang Si Yeol transforms from someone she hated into the reason she lives.” Lomon added, “To Si Yeol, Eun Ho restores the values he had forgotten and fills his loneliness with love.”
No Tail to Tell premieres on January 16 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS.
