hong kong singer drug arrest

Hong Kong’s entertainment industry has been rocked by news that a male singer and actor identified as Kris Law Kai-chung (35) has been arrested on serious drug-related charges. According to a report by Sohu on January 7, police apprehended Kris Law Kai-chung and two accomplices during an on-site raid, uncovering illegal substances valued at approximately HK$7.74 million.

Authorities revealed that in the early hours of January 3, police launched an urgent operation and raided a residential property in Yuen Long, Hong Kong. While the location appeared to be an ordinary home, it was allegedly being used as a highly dangerous illegal drug manufacturing site. Kris Law Kai-chung was caught in the act along with two accomplices one man and one woman aged between 21 and 35.

The anti-narcotics unit confiscated a large quantity of illegal substances at the scene, with the total value estimated at HK$7.74 million. During interrogation, Kris Law Kai-chung reportedly admitted that the illegal operation began in December 2025. To evade law enforcement, he and his accomplices allegedly relied on encrypted messaging apps and cryptocurrency transactions, forming what police described as a “closed criminal loop” designed to leave no trace. Investigators are still searching for the suspected mastermind behind the operation.

On January 5, Kris Law Kai-chung and the two other suspects were formally charged. The court has postponed the trial until March 31 to allow for further investigation. Under Hong Kong law, the manufacture or trafficking of illegal drugs is considered an extremely serious offense, carrying a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and a fine of up to HK$5 million. Given the scale of drugs seized in this case, Kris Law Kai-chung could face spending the remainder of his life behind bars if convicted.

Following the police announcement, Hong Kong’s entertainment industry moved swiftly to distance itself from the scandal, with broadcasters and platforms reportedly imposing a permanent ban on the artist. Prior to his arrest, Kris Law Kai-chung had been regarded as a promising musical talent. He previously ranked within the Top 20 of King Maker Season 1 and was praised for his songwriting and instrumental skills.

In 2019, Kris Law Kai-chung signed with independent music label Note13 Creatives, founded by veteran producer Fong Shu Leung. Alongside his music career, he had also begun exploring opportunities in short film making his dramatic fall from grace all the more shocking to fans and industry insiders alike.
