Actress Lee Sun-bin achieved a meaningful career milestone by winning an Excellence Award at the 2025 MBC Drama Awards, marking her first acting win in eight years since receiving a Rookie Award for Missing Nine.

The ceremony aired on December 30, with the Excellence Awards for the mini-series category presented by fellow actors. Lee Sun-bin was honored for her performance in To the Moon, surpassing strong nominees from several notable MBC dramas.

Visibly surprised, Lee Sun-bin admitted she had not prepared an acceptance speech. “I truly didn’t expect this at all. I was backstage reviewing my next script,” she said, expressing disbelief at being called to the stage.

Reflecting on her journey, she shared that To the Moon was the most physically demanding project of her career, but also one where she formed deep emotional bonds with the cast. “It was exhausting, but we shared something truly special,” she said.

During her speech, Lee Sun-bin focused on gratitude rather than her personal life. She thanked her agency CEO, saying, “Thank you for staying by my side for ten years and allowing me to continue working, despite my many shortcomings.” She also expressed appreciation to stylists and staff who consistently support her behind the scenes.

Lee Sun-bin went on to thank her family her parents and older brother for their unwavering trust and encouragement. She concluded by addressing her fans, known as Haekong-i, noting that she had long hoped to thank them properly at an awards ceremony.

“When I won my rookie award, I couldn’t mention my fans. I promised myself I would someday and it took eight years,” she said. “ Thank you for always supporting me. I will continue to work hard.”

Although Lee Sun-bin has been publicly dating actor Lee Kwang-soo for eight years, she did not mention him in her speech, drawing quiet attention from viewers. Still, the night remained focused on her professional achievement and steady perseverance as an actress.

The award signals a renewed chapter for Lee Sun-bin, highlighting her long-term dedication and gradual growth in the Korean drama industry.
