According to SBS News on December 26, Hwang Ha-na voluntarily entered South Korea via Incheon International Airport after staying in Cambodia. During her warrant review hearing that day, she reportedly told the court that childbirth led her to end her life in hiding.

Hwang Ha-na stated in court, “I recently gave birth to a child in Cambodia. I decided to return to Korea because I want to take responsibility for and properly raise my child.” It was confirmed that the newborn baby and the child’s biological father identified as a man accompanying her on the return flight entered Korea together with her.

However, Hwang Ha-na firmly denied the drug-related allegations. She claimed, “I did not use methamphetamine, nor did I encourage or provide it to others,” fully rejecting the accusations brought against her.

Hwang Ha-na is suspected of administering methamphetamine to two acquaintances in Seoul’s Gangnam district in July of last year. In December, as the investigation intensified, she allegedly fled Thailand to avoid police summons. After repeated failures to secure her cooperation, authorities escalated their efforts by requesting an Interpol Blue Notice in May and invalidating her passport.

Investigations later revealed that Hwang Ha-na had illegally entered Cambodia via Thailand and remained there in hiding. In October, reports surfaced that she was staying at a luxury residential complex in Phnom Penh and was pregnant. Her partner at the time, identified as Mr. Kim an individual working in mergers and acquisitions was believed to have assisted her escape and overseas stay.

Eventually, Hwang Ha-na’s legal representatives contacted police to express her intention to surrender. Korean authorities then dispatched investigators to Cambodia, where they executed an arrest warrant aboard a Korean-bound aircraft at Phnom Penh International Airport.

With Hwang Ha-na now in custody, police plan to resume a thorough investigation into the alleged drug use, potential suppliers, and whether additional illegal activities took place during her time abroad.

Hwang Ha-na first gained public attention years ago as the former fiancée of a singer-actor. However, following their breakup, she became repeatedly entangled in drug-related scandals. In 2019, she received a suspended sentence for methamphetamine use, but violated probation and was later sentenced to one year and eight months in prison in 2022.

After her release, Hwang Ha-na publicly vowed never to return to drugs. Now, with new allegations, international flight, and the revelation of childbirth, public sentiment remains deeply skeptical.

As the investigation continues, attention remains focused on whether Hwang Ha-na’s latest claims will influence the legal outcome or if her troubled past will ultimately overshadow her attempt at a new beginning.
