In a recent interview held at a café in Seoul’s Gangnam district, Kim Mu-jun talked about the SBS Wednesday–Thursday drama Dynamite Kiss, which aired its final episode on December 25th. The series tells the story of a single woman who disguises herself as a mother to survive financially and the team leader who falls in love with her.

In the drama, Kim Mu-jun played Kim Sun-woo, a single father and the close friend of Go Da-rim (played by Ahn Eun-jin), a single woman who pretends to be a mother for work.

Kim said he regularly checks reactions from fans and viewers. “I look up everything Twitter, Instagram, YouTube. I read supportive comments and malicious ones alike. Whether it’s criticism or encouragement, I’m grateful that so many people are interested,” he said.

He also addressed being labeled a look-alike of BTS member Jin on social media. When the topic came up, Kim responded cautiously and modestly, saying, “It feels like a dangerous thing to say out loud myself.”

As Kim Mu-jun has gained wider recognition through multiple projects, he has also experienced the downside of fame. In April, he was unexpectedly swept into a dating rumor involving Japanese actress Nagano Mei. At the time, Japanese outlet Shukan Bunshun reported that Nagano Mei was allegedly having an affair with married actor Tanaka Kei, and even claimed she was simultaneously dating a Korean actor who appeared in the same project.

Because Kim Mu-jun had co-starred with Nagano Mei in the TBS drama Caster, which aired around that time, he was pointed out as the Korean actor mentioned in the report. However, the claim was untrue. His agency immediately clarified that the two were merely close colleagues.

Reflecting on the controversy, Kim said, “Every action I take can either benefit me or harm me as a public figure. If it brings something positive, I’m grateful. But if it causes harm, then I believe it’s truly wrong. That experience made me realize how careful and cautious I need to be with every action and even every facial expression. Regardless of what the issue was, it taught me how I should live and carry myself going forward.”

Kim Mu-jun also emphasized the importance of integrity and ethical living. “Of course, we must follow the law, and I believe we should avoid anything that could be morally or ethically problematic. People around me often say, ‘Being a good person comes first,’” he shared. He added, “I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t smoke, and I don’t have piercings or tattoos. If I just keep living like this, I don’t think there will be any issues. I always try to value the people around me and take good care of them.”

Through the experience, Kim Mu-jun has emerged with a stronger sense of responsibility, showing a thoughtful and grounded attitude as he continues his acting career.
