aespa’s Karina shared details about her childhood fascination with comics during the YouTube show Next to the Karaoke, Next to the Comic Room, hosted by singer Jung Seung-hwan.
When asked if she had ever become overly immersed in comics as a child, Karina recalled watching the film The Cat Returns and imagining she could enter the cat world. She explained how she would follow chubby cats on narrow paths, believing they would guide her to another dimension. She also shared that she had been watching TV since she could understand words, essentially “living with the TV.”
Karina named Crayon Shin-chan as her favorite childhood comic. She highlighted the character Maenggu, noting its rising popularity and describing its charm as “stable and predictable, even when things go wrong.”

Karina described herself as naturally stable but highly curious. She is drawn to restricted areas and notices signs like “Staff Only,” wondering if she qualifies to enter.
“People see me as stable, but my mind is constantly exploring,” she said.
Her comments revealed how her early love for comics and curiosity shaped her playful and inquisitive personality today.
