Actor Song Joong-ki is set to star in the new romantic comedy Love Cloud (working title), confirming his next project just two months after wrapping JTBC’s My Youth. According to OSEN’s exclusive report, the actor recently received a casting offer for Love Cloud and has decided to take the role after positive consideration.
Despite being newly married and embracing life as a father, Song Joong-ki continues to cement his status as a “rom-com king.” His performance in My Youth showcased his flair for the genre, and his swift return with another romance title hints at an unbroken streak of activity.

Love Cloud is a romance drama set in the mystical landscapes of Jeju Island, where weather and love intertwine. The story follows former flight instructor Kang Woo-joo and former trainee pilot Ahn Ha-ni, who reunite seven years later as an air traffic controller and pilot. The drama will be directed by Song Min-yeob of KBS2’s Youth of May (2021) and High Cookie (2023), with the script written by newcomer team Mad Rabbit.
Song Joong-ki will play the male lead, Kang Woo-joo—a former flight instructor who now works as an air traffic controller. Although Love Cloud falls within the same romantic-comedy realm as My Youth, insiders say its tone, atmosphere, and characters are distinctly different. Fans are eager to see how Song Joong-ki will portray a role he has never attempted before, bringing both aviation and romantic elements to life.

The production is currently finalizing casting for the female lead and supporting roles, while also discussing broadcast network arrangements. Filming is scheduled to begin in the first half of next year.
Since his 2008 film debut in A Frozen Flower, Song Joong-ki has built an impressive résumé spanning both dramas and films, including Sungkyunkwan Scandal, Deep Rooted Tree, The Innocent Man, Descendants of the Sun, Arthdal Chronicles, Vincenzo, Reborn Rich, My Youth, and the films A Werewolf Boy, The Battleship Island, Space Sweepers, Hopeless, My Name Is Loh Kiwan, and Bogotá: City of the Final Opportunity. This year, he also held fan meetings in both Korea and Japan, reaffirming his global popularity.
