AKMU’s Suhyun appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel “Jeong Seung-hwan’s Noraebang Next to the Comic Book Store,” where host Jeong Seung-hwan mentioned hearing that she and Chanhyuk were preparing for joint training.
Suhyun confirmed the news, explaining, “An article actually came out today. We still had some contract time left, but we decided to terminate our contract with YG.”
Discussing the upcoming training, Suhyun shared, “My trainer, my brother, and I rented a separate place. We’ll live together for a month. We won’t even be able to look at our phones. The goal is a full mental reset.”
Surprised, Jeong Seung-hwan joked, “Are you training for the Olympics?”
Suhyun elaborated, “We need a fresh start. And we’re about to begin a journey where we have to rely on each other completely. So we decided to do proper group training before that.”

When asked what her brother means to her, Suhyun answered without hesitation: “He’s the only person I actually listen to. I’ve never been harmed by following his advice. He thinks about me more deeply than I do.”
She grew emotional recalling a darker period: “There was a time I had no motivation. Many people reached out, but no one could pull me out. My brother was the one who grabbed me and said, ‘Get it together!’ And when I looked up, I realized I had climbed out of that hole.”
She added, “It sounds cheesy, but I think I’m blessed to be his little sister.”
Jeong Seung-hwan also praised Chanhyuk, calling him “a friend I always respect.”

Last month, Suhyun’s father appeared on another YouTube channel and revealed that Suhyun had suffered severe burnout and a long slump, and that Chanhyuk had been the one to help her recover.
With AKMU now officially leaving YG and preparing for a new chapter, fans are watching closely to see what direction the sibling duo will take after their intense month-long “mental reset” camp.
