jessi pretty mood swings bad bxxxx controversy

Singer Jessi has officially declared her fiery return to the K-pop scene with her upcoming EP Pretty Mood Swings.

On November 11, Jessi unveiled the music video teaser for her title track “Girls Like Me” through her official Instagram account. The video opens with a newspaper headline reading “Jessi BAD BXXXX”, immediately setting the tone for her unapologetic concept.

Dressed in bold, revealing fashion, Jessi confidently dances to the beat with signature twerking and intense charisma — embodying her fearless persona. What particularly caught fans’ attention was her visible chest piercing, a daring move that sparked heated discussions online.

The singer’s fourth EP Pretty Mood Swings will be released on November 12 at 2 PM KST. This marks her first comeback in five years, and notably, her first release since being embroiled in the 2024 fan assault controversy.

In September 2024, Jessi faced public criticism after an incident where her acquaintance allegedly assaulted a teenage fan who had asked for a photo. Reports claimed that Jessi was present but did not intervene. Police later located Jessi and her group at a nearby bar, where they reportedly denied knowing the assailant’s whereabouts.

It was later revealed that the attacker was a Chinese friend of Koala, a rapper and producer close to Jessi. As the incident spread online, one netizen even filed a criminal complaint accusing Jessi of aiding concealment of the offender.

Jessi appeared at the Gangnam Police Station on October 16, 2024, for questioning, asserting that she had “never met the perpetrator before” and wanted him “to be punished.” Two days later, however, she parted ways with DOD Entertainment, and released a second public apology: “I’ve regretted it thousands of times. If I could turn back time, I would. I’ll do everything I can to make things right and help the victim recover.”

Eventually, she was cleared of charges related to obstruction and concealment but halted domestic activities, focusing mainly on overseas performances.

Now, more than a year later, Jessi is back — embracing the same “BAD BXXXX” label once used against her. Fans and media alike are watching closely to see how her new release reflects her personal growth and message.
