Fans are calling it a resurrection. In the newly released teaser for the upcoming Michael biopic, actor Jaafar Jackson, the King of Pop’s real-life nephew, delivers a jaw-droppingly accurate portrayal of his iconic uncle so uncanny that fans are doing double takes.
Released on November 6 (local time), the teaser opens with a young Michael singing in a studio and builds to scenes of electrifying arena concerts. Jaafar, the son of Michael’s brother Jermaine Jackson, captures every detail—from voice to moves to attitude with chilling precision.
One standout moment in the teaser features Jaafar in Michael’s signature red-and-black leather jacket from the legendary Thriller music video. He addresses the audience in a calm, confident voice: “I know you’ve been waiting a long time for this. The tracks are made, the songs are ready, let’s take it from the top.” The line instantly stirred excitement across the internet.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael goes beyond the music to explore Jackson’s full life story. From his early days as the breakout lead of The Jackson 5, to becoming the world’s greatest entertainer, the film promises to depict both the brilliance and the burden of a true pop pioneer.
Jaafar Jackson, who was cast in early 2023, expressed deep emotion about taking on the role. “It’s humbling and an honor to bring my uncle Michael’s story to life,” he shared. Director Fuqua echoed the sentiment, saying, “Jaafar is shockingly like his uncle his voice, his dancing, even the way he sings it’s all Michael.”

Since the teaser’s release, fans have exploded with anticipation: “Jaafar’s coming for that Oscar,” one wrote. Others declared the biopic already feels legendary, calling it “the greatest movie in the making.”
Michael is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide on April 24, 2026, and if the teaser is any indication, it may become one of the most iconic musical biopics of all time.
