K-pop soloist HyunA sparked concern after collapsing on stage during her performance at Waterbomb 2025 Macau held on November 9 at the Outdoor Performance Venue in Macau. The incident occurred while she was performing her iconic hit “Bubble Pop”.
During the performance, HyunA suddenly lost consciousness mid-choreography and fell to the ground. Backup dancers immediately rushed to her aid, and security personnel carried her offstage. Her legs were discreetly covered by dancers as she was escorted away, emphasizing the urgency and shock of the situation.

This comes shortly after HyunA had publicly shared her dramatic weight loss journey. Amid rumors of pregnancy due to recent weight gain, HyunA had announced a strict diet on October 3. By November 5, she revealed her weight had dropped to 49.88 kg, indicating a weight loss of approximately 10 kilograms in a short period. Fans began speculating that the intense diet may have contributed to her collapse.

In response, HyunA later addressed the incident on Instagram. “I’m truly sorry. Even though it was a short period after the previous performance, I wanted to show my best, but I feel like I wasn’t professional enough. Honestly, I don’t even remember what happened,” she wrote, apologizing to fans and concertgoers.
She added, “I’ll work harder to improve my stamina and keep going. It would be great if everything went the way I planned, but I’ll do my best.”
HyunA had previously shared that she suffers from depression and vasovagal syncope—a condition that can cause fainting when underweight or fatigued. Her collapse on stage, to the point of losing memory, painfully illustrates how the relentless expectations placed on female idols can become physically destructive.
The body she maintained throughout her career didn’t come easily. HyunA once revealed she survived on a single piece of kimbap a day during promotions. More recently, she confessed that after marriage, she felt relaxed and gained some weight—a natural, healthy change. Her candid admission showed that her previous “bone-thin” figure had come at a serious physical and emotional cost.
Debuting as a teenager, HyunA has lived under public scrutiny for nearly 20 years. For someone who has been dieting for most of her life, comments like “HyunA got fat” or “She’s not the same anymore” must have cut deeply. As people age, their bodies naturally change—so why can’t she be allowed to do the same?
HyunA at 33 is no longer the girl she was in her early twenties—and she shouldn’t have to be. True happiness doesn’t come from being “bone-thin.” It comes from being loved, nourished, and healthy. Hopefully, HyunA will embrace herself as she is now: a woman in her thirties, a wife, an artist, and a person who deserves peace, health, and joy—without collapsing to meet someone else’s impossible ideal.
