MBC has confirmed that its popular variety show Hangout with Yoo will not air on November 1, marking its second consecutive week of broadcast cancellation.

Originally scheduled for 6:30 PM KST on Saturday, the November 1st episode has been pulled from the lineup. Instead, MBC will air a special news bulletin covering President Lee Jae-myung’s participation in the second session of the APEC summit, which will focus on topics such as AI development and demographic shifts in the Asia-Pacific region.

What raised eyebrows, however, is the show’s ongoing filming halt. Hangout with Yoo typically films every Thursday, but there were no recordings on October 23 or October 30. While MBC has confirmed filming will resume next week, the break has sparked speculation online.

Some netizens pointed to Lee Yi-kyung’s recent 19+ scandal as the possible reason. On October 20, Lee became entangled in a controversy involving allegations about his private life. However, the accuser soon retracted their claims and issued an apology, and Lee was quickly cleared of wrongdoing.

MBC has officially denied that the temporary halt in filming and broadcast was due to the actor’s personal controversy. The network maintains that the cancellation is solely due to scheduling changes for news coverage.

Meanwhile, Lee Yi-kyung’s agency, Sangyoung ENT, released a firm statement via its official social media channels, announcing plans to take legal action. “We are preparing legal measures against those spreading false information and malicious rumors. Based on the severity of the situation, we will assess all direct and indirect damages and pursue every possible legal step.”

While the broadcast break has coincided with the controversy, MBC appears intent on separating the two, with Hangout with Yoo expected to return to its regular schedule following the news special.
