Former rhythmic gymnast turned broadcaster Son Yeon-jae got candid about love, loyalty, and what she considers a “good man” in a new episode on her personal YouTube channel, Son Yeon Jae SON YEON JAE, released on October 27.
Titled “What Makes a Good Man? Infidelity and Spicy Love Advice with Married Besties,” the video featured Son Yeon-jae chatting with her close, married friends in a fun but honest round of “Balance Game” questions. One of the hottest debates centered around “physical cheating vs. emotional cheating.”
Son Yeon-jae didn’t hold back her opinion: “If someone is deeply in love with another person emotionally, I think you should let them go. But physical cheating? That’s something I can never forgive. It’s not something that just happens you had plenty of chances to stop but chose not to. That’s what I can’t accept,” she explained firmly. “If someone said they’ve fallen in love with another person and wanted to leave, I could handle that. But saying ‘it was a mistake’? That I can’t understand.”
Her friends offered a different perspective, saying they found emotional cheating even harder to accept, leading to some humorous disagreement.
When asked about how to meet a “good guy,” Son offered realistic advice. “In the past, organic encounters were possible. But nowadays, everyone’s busy and passive, so you end up meeting people introduced by someone who really knows you,” she said, adding, “Even if you’re not attracted to someone’s looks, it’s worth giving them a chance.”
A friend chimed in, “You have to meet a lot of people to find the right one.” But Son questioned that logic with refreshing honesty: “It’s great to meet good people, but do we really need to go through bad ones just for the experience?”
As for her definition of a “good man,” Son Yeon-jae replied, “Someone who doesn’t confuse me.” She elaborated, “If someone’s behavior makes me unsure about how they feel, it’s a red flag. If someone truly likes you, they won’t leave you guessing.”
On the topic of relationships, she also mentioned how exhausting it feels to constantly “maintain an image.” “If I feel like I have to try too hard to look perfect when dating, that’s just stress. With my husband, I want to show my true self.”
In a lighter moment, Son also shared a recent tarot reading experience. “The reader asked me if I was pregnant. Two pregnancy cards came up, and at the end, there was a ‘wild child’ card,” she confessed. “They said I might have a sensitive, artistic daughter who causes trouble.” Her friends burst out laughing, joking, “Sounds just like you!”
