On October 21, Jin Tae-hyun posted a screenshot of a comment he came across elsewhere online, sparking a heartfelt message in return.

The comment praised the couple’s efforts, expressing hope that their example would help broaden Korea’s adoption culture. It referenced American success stories where adoptive parents provided support without formal legal ties, contrasting this with Korea’s deep-rooted Confucian values that emphasize bloodlines and heritage — a cultural barrier that often hinders adoption.

Jin Tae-hyun replied, “This is exactly the path we want to take. Rather than just offering financial support, living together and sharing meals makes us a real family.”

Addressing questions like “Why adopt only adults?” and “Why not just sponsor them?”, Jin reflected, “These seemingly small, negative thoughts might be what shape our current society. We believe that sharing life, giving our time, and welcoming someone into our home is a more meaningful act than any large donation or sponsorship. And yes, we’re already doing our part with sponsorships too.”

He went on to say, “We live hoping to help others succeed. We’re not saints — we just want to live as decently as we can.” Jin shared his personal struggles as well, admitting, “In my youth, I lived through hard times, feeling lost, ashamed, and naive. That’s why now, I want to live by helping others. And we’ve been blessed with a lot of love too.”

Jin continued with a sincere reflection on how he’s always chosen to live openly: “Even when I wasn’t popular, I always communicated like this — honestly, without hiding. Going forward, I won’t flaunt my house, luxury goods, or money. I’ll keep showing off my wife, friends, neighbors, and family — because they’re the only treasures I have. Thank you.”
