Singer Hwasa has clarified rumors of being a “chaebol-level big spender” after it was revealed she recently gifted a car to her longtime stylist.
Hwasa appeared as a guest on MBC FM4U’s Kim Shin-young’s Noon Song of Hope on October 17, where host Kim Shin-young praised her generosity toward staff.
“I heard you often give your staff financial ‘healing’ treatments,” Kim Shin-young commented playfully.

Hwasa replied, “I think group dinners are really important. It’s the only time I can properly sit and talk with my team. Calling them out individually feels too formal, so I use dinners to build closeness.”
She added with a laugh, “No one should feel sad over food. I never save money on meals.”
When Kim Shin-young brought up the car gift, jokingly asking, “Didn’t you give your stylist a car? Are you a chaebol?” Hwasa quickly waved her hands and denied it.
“I’m absolutely not a chaebol,” she said. “And it’s not like I did it because I have too much money.”
Hwasa explained that the stylist in question had worked with her for 10 years and that her car had become old. “When someone’s been by your side for a decade, you don’t measure things like that. A calculated gift isn’t a real gift,” she said sincerely.

“I just felt thankful — I only give something when I know I’d feel fine even if I didn’t get anything back. I thought, ‘I can give her this car and feel at peace about it,’ and that’s why I did it.”
The singer’s humility and loyalty impressed listeners, with many praising her for valuing gratitude over wealth.
Hwasa, known for her candid personality and confidence both as a solo artist and member of MAMAMOO, continues to receive love for her authenticity on and off stage.
