Former EXO member Huang Zitao has officially tied the knot with Xu Yiyang, a singer-actress and former SM Rookies trainee. The couple, who announced their legal marriage back in December 2024, finally held their wedding ceremony on October 16 in Sanya, Hainan Province, China nearly 10 months after registering their marriage.

Their connection runs deep both started under SM Entertainment in Korea. Huang Zitao debuted as part of EXO in 2012 but left in 2015 to pursue a career in China. Xu Yiyang, meanwhile, joined SM in 2014, appeared in MY SMT alongside aespa’s Ningning, and later left in 2018 to restart her career in China.

Now labelmates at L.TAO Entertainment, the two have transformed from industry colleagues into a power couple, celebrating their love in a way no one could have predicted.

The wedding of Huang Zitao and Xu Yiyang in Sanya was a full-blown spectacle that captivated millions. Kicking off with a jaw-dropping bridal convoy of 40 Cadillacs, Zitao made a statement as he arrived to pick up his bride an entrance that instantly went viral.

Staying true to his fan-focused approach, the couple livestreamed the entire event, drawing in over 20 million viewers. Zitao personally interacted with fans, handing out everything from snacks to iPhone 17s, turning the ceremony into an unforgettable online celebration.

The wedding itself embraced a celestial theme, featuring fireworks, artificial snow, and a dreamy setting as the couple exchanged vows beneath the stars.

Breaking from tradition, they skipped the customary tea ceremony, choosing instead to celebrate freely with friends and fellow celebrities. In one particularly playful moment, Zitao tossed a cauliflower symbolizing good fortune and prosperity instead of a bouquet, which was caught by actor Jiang Chao, adding a whimsical touch to a wedding already overflowing with personality and charm.

“This is the first wedding where the groom’s the one tossing vegetables!”
“The way Zitao’s livestreaming, hugging everyone, asking for followers this isn’t a wedding, it’s a fan festival!” Weibo comments

The 1997-born bride stunned in an off-shoulder gown that highlighted her elegance. Viewers praised her visuals, calling her “glowing,” “graceful,” and “a perfect modern bride.”

At the altar, Zitao presented her with a “500-carat diamond ring” largely symbolic but undeniably eye-catching. Their emotional kiss amid falling snow and cheers marked one of the most memorable moments of the event.

Though both started under the same Korean agency, their paths diverged before finally merging in China. Huang Zitao’s transition from EXO idol to business mogul and Xu Yiyang’s persistence through Chinese survival shows have made their journey particularly inspirational.

Their wedding, grand and unapologetically noisy, seems to be their way of saying: “We made it — and we’ll celebrate it our way.”
