On October 3, Song Hye Kyo took to Instagram to share a still cut and poster of Genie, Make a Wish with the caption, “Finally today.” She added a heart emoji alongside “Writer Kim Eun Sook” and tagged Suzy and Ahn Eun Jin with an applause emoji.
The 13-episode fantasy romantic comedy, released the same day, follows Genie (Kim Woo Bin), a lamp spirit who awakens after a thousand years of slumber, and Gayoung (Suzy), a woman incapable of emotions. Their story unfolds around three wishes and an unexpected bond. The project marks Kim Eun Sook’s latest work, following hits like Descendants of the Sun and The Glory, both of which starred Song Hye Kyo.
Her support carries even more weight given her friendship with Suzy, which blossomed while filming. Song Hye Kyo made a cameo appearance in the series thanks to her connection with Kim Eun Sook, allowing her to grow closer to Suzy on set.
Earlier this year, during interviews for the film Dark Nuns, Song Hye Kyo spoke fondly of Suzy, who is 13 years her junior: “From the very first day on set, I had a really good impression of her. Talking with Suzy is refreshing, and she feels like a reliable younger sister despite the age gap.”
