Actor Kim Kang-woo, known for his powerful acting in The Treacherous, The Childe, and the Disney+ hit The Tyrant, recently shared a touching personal story on KBS2’s variety program Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant.
On the September 12 broadcast, Kim Kang-woo revealed that he has been driving the same Porsche Cayenne SUV since 2012. “My car is like an older brother to my second son, who was born in 2013,” he joked, before opening up about the deep family memories tied to the vehicle.
He recalled: “This was the car we brought our baby home in from the postpartum care center. The kids even gave it a name and used to call it every day. I also remember washing their feet on the trunk during family trips. I just can’t sell it because it holds too many precious memories.”
The actor surprised viewers by remembering the exact date he bought the car, reinforcing his image as a true family man.

Kim Kang-woo married Han Moo-young, the older sister of actress Han Hye-jin. Known as the “model son-in-law,” he once cleared thick ice at his late father-in-law’s gravesite with nothing but a coat hanger, moving his wife’s family to tears.
Han Hye-jin later recalled on SBS’s Healing Camp: “I was so grateful that someone like him became part of our family.”
On the same Fun-Staurant broadcast, Kim Kang-woo’s mother also shared her pride: “He’s the most affectionate son. We talk often, and people say it sounds like he’s talking to a girlfriend. He’s just like his father, who never smoked, drank, or stayed out late.”
The show also revealed a scrapbook his father has kept for 25 years, filled with every article about Kim Kang-woo’s acting career, moving both the actor and the audience.
With his devotion to both family and craft, Kim Kang-woo continues to be celebrated as not just a “trustworthy actor,” but also a “true family man.”
