Actors Lee Jae-wook and Shin Ye-eun are teaming up for a new medical romantic comedy. On September 18, the production team behind Genie TV’s original drama Doctor on the Edge (written by Kim Ji-soo, directed by Lee Myung-woo) confirmed the casting of the two leads.
Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, Doctor on the Edge follows public health doctor Do Ji-eui (Lee Jae-wook) and nurse Yook Ha-ri (Shin Ye-eun) as they find love while working together in a remote island village.

Lee Jae-wook will play Do Ji-eui, a former university hospital plastic surgeon who harbors deep trauma related to the sea and islands. Through his experiences in the village, he gradually grows into a true doctor. Expressing his excitement, Lee shared, “I’m thrilled to meet viewers with this role. It’s my first time playing a doctor, so while I’m nervous, I’m determined to give my best to create a meaningful project.”
Shin Ye-eun takes on the role of Yook Ha-ri, a nurse with a hidden backstory and strong devotion to both her work and her patients. She encounters someone she desperately wants to heal, which becomes central to her journey. Shin remarked, “The story of a tight-knit community on an island was instantly captivating. After reading the script at the first table read, I was certain it would be fun, and I’m confident we can bring it to life.”
The series will be helmed by director Lee Myung-woo, best known for his witty and vibrant direction in hits like The Fiery Priest and Boyhood. Fans can expect his signature humor and creativity to shine once again.
Doctor on the Edge is scheduled to premiere next year on ENA.
