On September 16, Yu Menglong’s mother shared a statement through Yu Menglong Studio’s official social media, confirming that her son “passed away after falling from a building while under the influence of alcohol.” She described the sudden loss as a devastating tragedy for the family and emphasized, “The police have already investigated the situation, completed all procedures, and informed us of the results. I hope everyone will view this rationally and stop making assumptions.”
Her statement came after online rumors linked Yu’s death to several of his close friends. Singer-actor Gao Taiyu, in particular, was forced to clarify that he was not present at the scene and vowed legal action against those spreading malicious claims.
Yu Menglong’s mother added, “I want to return to a peaceful life as soon as possible, carrying the memory of my son in my heart. I believe that is what he would have wanted.”
Yu Menglong tragically died in the early morning of September 11 after falling from a building in Beijing at the age of 37. According to reports, he had dinner with several acquaintances at a friend’s house the night before. After retreating to a bedroom and locking the door, he was later discovered downstairs after friends noticed his absence around 6 a.m.
His agency later confirmed his death, stating, “Police investigations found no evidence of foul play.”
Yu Menglong was well known to Chinese drama fans worldwide, having appeared in popular works such as Go Princess Go and Eternal Love. He amassed a significant following, with over 26 million fans on Weibo.
