Chinese entertainment is in mourning as actor Yu Menglong has been confirmed dead at the age of 37 after a fatal fall.
The devastating news of Yu Menglong’s passing on September 11, 2025, has shaken audiences across Asia. According to his studio, the actor died after falling from a building in Beijing’s Chaoyang District. Police stated that no criminal elements were found in their preliminary investigation. Reporters from YZWB visited the site where Yu’s body was discovered to gather details about the tragedy.
One elderly resident revealed that the discovery was made by her close friend, who found Yu’s body at around 6 a.m. while walking her dog. The dog smelled blood and ran toward a young man lying motionless on the ground. Witnesses recalled seeing blood streaming from his mouth. Some acquaintances quickly covered his face with clothing and identified him as their friend before authorities arrived. Police and medics soon sealed off the area, completing the investigation by 9 a.m.
The resident later realized from the news that the victim was Yu Menglong, a well-known actor. She recalled seeing him in the neighborhood with friends, describing him as “handsome” and “surrounded by good-looking companions.”
Reporters observed that by the afternoon of September 11, the site had been fully cleaned with no barriers in place. Looking up from the ground floor, they noted that the insect screen on the apartment believed to be Yu’s was damaged. In a similar unit upstairs, opening the glass door was easy, but pushing out the insect screen proved quite difficult—raising speculation about what might have happened before his fall.

The troubling details have fueled widespread debate, with many questioning whether Yu’s death was accidental or if there were deeper circumstances involved. Yu, once one of China’s top historical drama heartthrobs, had faced career setbacks in recent years. He had not filmed for three years and dissolved his personal studio at the end of July.
Tributes poured in from leading Chinese celebrities including Yang Mi, Dilraba Dilmurat, Gülnezer Bextiyar, Liu Yuxin, and Gan Wei, all mourning Yu’s sudden passing and honoring his contributions to the industry.
Entertainment blogger Jiang Xiaoyan reported that on the night of September 10, Yu had dinner with 5–6 friends at a private home in Beijing. Around 2 a.m., they retired to their rooms, with Yu locking his door. By 6 a.m., his friends found him unresponsive, only to learn later that a neighbor walking her dog had discovered his body. Police also recovered two Rolex watches belonging to his friends from his jacket pocket, further intensifying speculation.
Though authorities have ruled out homicide, the unanswered questions surrounding Yu Menglong’s final hours leave his death clouded with suspicion and sorrow.
