On September 9, Sunmi appeared as a guest on the YouTube web variety show Salon Drip 2. Host Jang Do-yeon mentioned, “One of your YouTube Shorts videos has surpassed 15 million views—did you know?” Sunmi smiled and replied, “Ah, that’s from Waterbomb.”
The staggering 15 million views far outshine the 7 million views earned by Kwon Eun-bi’s now-famous 2023 Waterbomb stage, making Sunmi’s performance more than twice as popular.
Reflecting on the moment, Sunmi said, “It was when the Waterbomb festival was just starting to take off. At the time, my image as the youngest member of Wonder Girls was still strong, but I revealed a bold outfit on that stage for the first time. Honestly, I sometimes wonder if the views weren’t for me, but for Cha Hyun-seung, the male dancer next to me.”

Jang Do-yeon playfully responded, “It’s probably both. If someone has a narrow field of vision, they’ll only see you, but with a wider view, Hyun-seung also comes into focus.”
They also joked about the signature water-splashing at the festival. When asked if the amount of water thrown reflects popularity, Sunmi explained: “In the beginning, water guns were the measure of popularity. But over time, it shifted to a mechanical system, and now it’s the artists who spray water at the audience.”
She caused laughter as she added, “Sometimes people get mischievous—they even shot water directly into my mouth while I was singing.”
