After years of speculation, singer and entertainer Kim Jong-kook has officially tied the knot.

On September 5, Kim Jong-kook held a private wedding ceremony at a hotel in Seoul’s Gangnam district. According to industry insiders, he revealed nothing beyond the wedding date and only disclosed the venue to guests the day before. To ensure secrecy, celebrity attendees were even instructed: “Don’t tell your manager—come alone.” The extreme precautions reportedly made the event feel like a scene from a 007 film.

The guest list was limited to fewer than 100 people, including close family, relatives, and longtime colleagues. Members of the Running Man cast and fellow Dragon Club star Yoo Jae-suk, who officiated the ceremony, were among the few invited. Despite Kim Jong-kook’s nearly 30 years in the industry, many acquaintances only learned of his marriage through news reports, as no wider invitations were extended.

Curiosity about the bride remains high. Beyond the fact that she is a non-celebrity, little has been confirmed. Rumors circulating online suggest she may be a 38-year-old cosmetics company CEO from Los Angeles, while other speculation claims she is 20 years younger than Kim Jong-kook, the daughter of a well-known English teacher, and currently working in international sales for a major corporation. Both Kim Jong-kook and his agency, Turbo JK Company, have declined to comment on her identity.

Ahead of his marriage, Kim Jong-kook reportedly purchased a luxury villa in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam for ₩6.2 billion KRW (approx. $4.5 million USD) in full cash, with no mortgage. The spacious 243㎡ property is expected to serve as the couple’s newlywed home.

Debuting in 1995 as part of the duo Turbo, Kim Jong-kook rose to fame with hits such as “Reminiscence,” “Goodbye Yesterday,” and solo classics like “One Man” and “Lovable.” He has also become a household name through variety shows including X-Man, Family Outing, Running Man, and Problematic Men in the Rooftop Room.

Kim Jong-kook, once nicknamed the “Sparta” of Running Man, is now officially a husband, beginning a new chapter in his life while keeping his trademark privacy intact.
