Versatile actress Kim Hee-sun is proving that she has also succeeded in “raising a star.” Her daughter, Yeon-ah, who has inherited the perfect blend of talents from her businessman father and celebrity mother, is already well-known as a gifted prodigy. Recently, Kim shared updates about her grown-up daughter and her dedicated approach to parenting, sparking comments online such as “Like mother, like daughter” and “She definitely inherited the right DNA.”
On the August 19 broadcast of JTBC’s One Meal Show, math instructor Jung Seung-je appeared as a guest alongside MC Tak Jae-hoon and Kim Hee-sun in Seoul’s Daechi-dong, Korea’s top private education hub. Kim admitted she had once visited the area as many as 16 times in a single day for academy drop-offs, calling herself an “experienced Daechi-dong academy chauffeur.”
Later, while speaking with students at a self-study prep academy, Kim was delighted to hear from one student aiming for a biotechnology major. She revealed that her daughter, Yeon-ah, also loves microbiology and cellular studies. Born in 2009, Yeon-ah reportedly achieved a perfect score on a gifted child test at the age of six and is currently studying abroad in Los Angeles.
Kim Hee-sun has occasionally given glimpses into her daughter’s life. On February 21, she shared photos of Yeon-ah during their trip to Germany. The teenager impressed with her chic fashion sense, pairing an oversized beige coat with black shorts and boots, radiating a refined and stylish aura. Netizens praised her striking figure, fashionable style, and resemblance to her mother.
Kim also revealed last year on tvN’s Watcha Up To? that her daughter once dreamed of becoming a YouTuber but has since firmly decided to pursue a career in life sciences. As she frequently stays in the U.S. to be near Yeon-ah, Kim proudly said that her daughter handles all the English, often joining her for meals, shopping, and simple chores on weekdays.
Kim Hee-sun married businessman Park Joo-young in October 2007 after a year of dating. Park, the second son of Larksan Group chairman Park Sung-kwan, currently runs a beauty business in Seoul’s Apgujeong district. Known for his good looks resembling actors Song Seung-heon and Song Il-gook, he was once popular even before his marriage to Kim. Together, the couple are now being praised for successfully raising their prodigy daughter.
