On August 28, Jung Il-woo shared heartfelt words on Instagram along with several photos from the event: “Mother, I sincerely congratulate you on your retirement.🎉 I deeply respect the years of dedication and hard work you’ve given, and as your son, I am truly grateful.”

The released photos showed Jung Il-woo celebrating the milestone alongside his father and sister. Addressing his mother, he added, “You have beautifully completed one long journey, and I wholeheartedly support you as you begin a new chapter filled with health and love.”

Jung Il-woo comes from a distinguished background. His mother is known to have served as the director of the Ancient Textiles Research Lab, while his father is a professor and his sister a fashion designer. On KBS2’s variety show Problem Child in House, Jung Il-woo revealed: “My mother is a Cultural Heritage Committee member. She earned her doctorate in China and researches ancient textiles in Korea. Among the seven committee members who evaluate intangible cultural properties in our country, she is one of them.”

He fondly recalled his mother’s influence on his career as well, saying: “During the drama Diary of a Night Watchman, my mother personally designed the patterns on my costumes. Even during my audition for High Kick!, she bought me a leather jacket. She always prepared outfits for my auditions.”

Jung Il-woo further revealed that his parents met during their university years as student council leaders: “My father was the student body president, and my mother was the women’s student body president.” He also mentioned that his family lineage connects him to the same clan as actor Jung Hae-in and the historical figure Jeong Yak-yong.

Currently, Jung Il-woo is starring in KBS2‘s weekend drama Our Golden Days.
