HYBE and Geffen Records have officially unveiled Emily Kelavos — a well-loved contestant from The Debut: Dream Academy — as the first confirmed member of their upcoming global girl group under the new project, Prelude: The Final Piece.
Emily captivated audiences during the 2023 audition series The Debut: Dream Academy, where she competed among 20 finalists. Though she didn’t make the final debut lineup of KATSEYE, her charismatic talent left a lasting impression on fans worldwide.

The announcement appears tied to “World Scout: The Final Piece“, a brand-new audition program set to begin in Japan. This project aims to scout global talent through a large-scale audition, followed by K-pop–style training in the U.S., culminating in a reality show debut on ABEMA in spring 2026.

Fans are celebrating Emily’s return, hopeful that her early reveal signals confirmed placement in the new group—potentially avoiding another survival-style competition. As one enthusiastic Redditor put it:
- I’m excited to see her again I loved her a lot on Dream Academy. Hoping to see other familiar faces on this show- there’s some really awesome trainees that hybe has scouted that appeared on Dream Academy or R U Next – would love to see some of those girls get a chance to debut.
- This makes sense to why Emily was featured so much in the Dream Academy netflix documentary… As well as the only contestant to come back for the Dream Academy reunion… There must have been plans for her since then.
- The way that we saw her manifest in her journal that she would be in the group in Dream Academy… It always works out somehow y’all. So happy for her.
For now, Emily’s inclusion in Prelude: The Final Piece feels like both a redemption story and a new beginning. With HYBE and Geffen Records once again joining forces, anticipation is already building for how this project will unfold — and whether Emily will finally take her long-awaited step onto the global K-pop stage.
