The conversation came during her appearance on the August 24 episode of Fairy Jae-hyung, a YouTube channel hosted by veteran musician Jung Jae-hyung. The video, titled “It’d Be Nice If Everyone Dropped the Surname and Just Called Me Yu-jin in the Comments”, offered a rare, unfiltered look at IVE An Yu-jin’s thoughts on her musical development.
Humble Response to High Praise
When asked about her rendition of Golden, a song originally featured in Netflix’s animated hit K-Pop Demon Hunters by the fictional group Huntr/x, Jung Jae-hyung commented, “Wasn’t it meaningful? I felt like you were eager to make a musical leap.”
Yu-jin responded earnestly, “Thank you. I think being good at singing is really cool.” But when asked if she thought she sang the song well, she downplayed it with a laugh: “Me? I’m still far from it.”
Editing Controversy and Fan Reactions
Her cover of Golden —uploaded to IVE’s official YouTube channel—was met with mixed reactions due to noticeable post-production edits. Some fans felt the editing was unnecessary, with comments like:
- “She doesn’t need editing, why did they do it?”
- “Please release the raw version without post-processing.”

While the editing sparked debate, most fans agreed Yu-jin’s vocal performance deserved a more authentic presentation. Yu-jin also reflected on what makes her proud as a performer. “When I hit a high note at a concert, the audience cheers immediately. That thrill is different from dancing—it’s something you can only feel live.”
Dreams of Collaborating with Young-ji
When asked why she hasn’t pursued musical collaborations yet, Yu-jin admitted, “I don’t think it’s the right time for me yet. I feel like I need to train more first.”
However, she didn’t hold back when asked who she’d like to work with: “One artist I really want to work with is Young-ji unnie.” She praised Young-ji for her strong sense of musical identity and shared, “She even asked me directly, ‘Why don’t you invite me?’ She’s someone who always knows what image she wants to present.”

Jung Jae-hyung commended Yu-jin for her patience and vision, saying, “You don’t just want to perform—you want to wait for a meaningful moment to show your dream.”
With her humility, self-awareness, and clear artistic goals, An Yu-jin is proving she’s not just a K-pop idol, but a serious artist preparing for long-term growth.
