tvN’s new weekend series Bon Appetit, Your Majesty has already overtaken KBS2’s Twelve in viewership ratings, signaling a dramatic shift in audience preference.
According to Nielsen Korea, Bon Appetit, Your Majesty soared from a solid 4.8% nationwide rating in its premiere to 6.6% in its second episode. In contrast, Twelve, which launched with a strong 8.1%, saw its rating drop sharply to 5.9% by its second airing.
Battle for the Weekend Crown
The two dramas air head-to-head in the coveted weekend 9 p.m. time slot—a battlefield that tvN has traditionally dominated. In response to KBS2’s challenge, tvN adjusted its drama schedule slightly, moving Bon Appetit, Your Majesty to 9:10 p.m., just minutes before Twelve begins at 9:15 p.m.

This direct competition has turned the shows into unexpected rivals, and after just two rounds, the momentum clearly favors tvN’s historical fantasy rom-com.
What Are the Dramas About?
Bon Appetit, Your Majesty is a survival fantasy romantic comedy that follows a modern-day chef (YoonA) who accidentally time-slips into the past. There, she encounters a tyrant king (Lee Chae-min)—who turns out to have an extraordinary palate. The series combines mouthwatering food visuals with historical intrigue and budding romance, quickly charming viewers with its unique premise and strong production values.
On the other hand, Twelve is a high-concept action fantasy centered around twelve guardian angels who protect the human realm from evil. Drawing inspiration from the Eastern zodiac, the drama offers intense battle sequences, CGI-heavy visuals, and a darker tone.
The sharp reversal in ratings has sparked excitement among K-drama fans, with many curious to see if Bon Appetit, Your Majesty can sustain its lead or if Twelve will bounce back. With both series still in their early stages, the weekend ratings war is far from over.

The third episode showdown is expected to reveal whether tvN’s strategy and genre-mix gamble will continue paying off—or if KBS2 can recapture audience attention.
