On August 22, TV CHOSUN released a preview of Park Min-young’s striking image transformations for its upcoming weekend mini-series Confidence Queen (script by Hong Seung-hyun and Kim Da-hye, directed by Nam Ki-hoon).
Confidence Queen is a “caper comedy” that follows three talented con artists as they seek revenge against the villains of this era.
In the drama, Park Min-young takes on the role of Yoon Yi-rang, the team leader of the “Confidence Man crew.” Blessed with wealth, genius-level intelligence, and mesmerizing beauty, Yoon Yi-rang tricks only the wicked with her extraordinary methods and feels exhilarated in doing so. This marks a major transformation for Park, who fully immerses herself in the thrilling and cathartic character.
In the first two episodes alone, Yoon Yi-rang’s ever-changing faces promise to captivate audiences with a “rainbow transformation collection” rivaling the art of face-changing. She effortlessly shifts between charisma, playfulness, elegance, sophistication, innocence, mystery, and professionalism. Yoon also embodies diverse occupations—including a casino dealer, flight attendant, and yogurt delivery worker—adding to the drama’s fun and unpredictability.
In one scene, she radiates poise in a hanbok with a traditional updo, her sharp gaze reflecting her leadership aura. Yet in a different setting, she lightens up in a playful dress with a money gun, showing a lively and mischievous side. As a flight attendant, she offers a warm smile, while in sporty goggles and a jumper, she exudes vitality. She then transitions into an innocent look in a simple white shirt before drawing intrigue in a delivery worker’s uniform, shrouded in mystery.
Park Min-young is expected to flawlessly portray Yoon Yi-rang’s vibrant, dopamine-driven personality alongside her commanding presence as a genius leader.
The production team stated, “Once the broadcast airs, viewers will naturally say, ‘Park Min-young did it again!’ We are confident in her performance. Her enviable fashion looks will also be one of the highlights of enjoying Confidence Queen.”
Confidence Queen premieres on September 6 on TV CHOSUN and Coupang Play simultaneously, and will also be available to audiences in 240 countries and regions worldwide through Amazon Prime Video.
