On August 9, Lee Young-ae posted on her personal social media account, writing “What should we eat this summer weekend?” along with a series of emojis.
The photos show the actress harvesting vegetables she grew herself in her garden. Pumpkins, cherry tomatoes, eggplants and melons hung ripe on the vines as Lee, without makeup and dressed comfortably, picked them by hand. Far from the glamorous image of a top star, she appeared as a down-to-earth wife and mother, drawing warm reactions from fans.
Lee previously revealed on Hong Jin-kyung’s YouTube channel that she had spent the past 10 years living in the countryside, growing her own vegetables and cooking meals from them.
She also expressed her affection for her husband Jung Ho-young, who is 20 years her senior. “I want to go to the United States with the kids, but I’ve never been there. My husband worries a lot. Since we had children at a later age, he doesn’t let me go anywhere dangerous,” she said.
When asked about arguments with her husband, Lee replied with a smile, “Sometimes we argue in formal speech, sometimes in casual speech.” As for the last time they kissed, she playfully answered “We kiss every day—yesterday too”, drawing laughter.
