On August 1, former After School and Orange Caramel member Lizzy appeared in a video on the YouTube channel “Jjungthewoman,” hosted by fellow After School member Kim Jung-ah .
In the emotional interview, Lizzy openly admitted to her past mistakes, saying, “There is no excuse. It was entirely my fault, and I sincerely apologize to those who were hurt because of my actions.”
Once adored for her cheerful and bubbly personality, Lizzy spoke about the emotional toll of suddenly being shunned by fans and the industry. “At first, I was scared. Going from being loved to being avoided by everyone overnight… I made more mistakes out of desperation,” she confessed.
She also admitted to taking her fame for granted, saying, “I lived without realizing how high I had flown. Only after time passed did I begin to reflect and realize how thoughtlessly I had lived.”
Kim Jung-ah , who has remained close with Lizzy , didn’t shy away from expressing her initial disappointment. “I wondered why she did it. A lot of us told her to wake up,” she said. “But I saw her trying hard to change. If she hadn’t, I probably wouldn’t be here today. She’s making an effort, and that’s admirable.”
Lizzy also shared the mental and emotional struggles she continues to face. “Lately, my thoughts are endless, and I can’t even sleep. While time doesn’t fix everything, I’ve realized that a shift in mindset can help. I’m finding my own solutions,” she explained.
She admitted that without this major life event, she might never have matured. “I used to think people can’t change, but this experience proved me wrong.”
Revealing her latest venture, Lizzy announced that she’s now reconnecting with fans through TikTok. “I was scared to try something new, but TikTok feels like a personal space where I can communicate with fans directly. That’s why I decided to start again,” she said.
When asked if she would choose After School or Orange Caramel if given only one option, Lizzy smiled and answered, “I choose Orange Caramel.”
