In a shocking turn of events, former South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has made headlines for resisting arrest while dressed only in his underwear.

The dramatic incident unfolded at Seoul Detention Center on the morning of August 1, as the special counsel team investigating First Lady Kim Keon-hee arrived to execute an arrest warrant.

According to Deputy Special Counsel Oh Jung-hee, the team attempted to enforce the arrest warrant, but Yoon Suk-yeol strongly opposed it while lying on the floor without wearing prison-issued clothing.

“The suspect lay on the ground, not even wearing prison attire, and strongly resisted arrest. Due to safety concerns, we refrained from using physical force and temporarily suspended the warrant execution,” said Oh Jung-hee during a press briefing.

Despite entering the detention center and approaching the former president’s holding cell directly, the team was unable to proceed due to Yoon’s refusal to cooperate.

Yoon Suk-yeol’s legal team accused the special counsel of engaging in character defamation, calling the briefing “a platform for personal humiliation.” They criticized the public disclosure of the former president’s condition as inappropriate and misleading.

Justice Minister Jeong Seong-ho addressed the incident during a National Assembly session, stating bluntly, “It’s truly embarrassing.” He confirmed that the failed arrest attempt had lasted more than two hours and suggested that physical enforcement may be used in future attempts.

The public has responded with a mixture of shock and disappointment, as many followed the breaking updates online. Once known for his strong law-and-order stance, the image of Yoon Suk-yeol resisting law enforcement in such a dramatic manner has raised eyebrows nationwide.
