On July 29, Choi Yena held a showcase at Blue Square in Yongsan, Seoul, to celebrate the release of her 4th mini album Blooming Wings.

She recently featured on “Loser,” a track from Jin’s second mini album Echo, and even appeared on stage with him at his concert. Reflecting on the experience, Yena said:
“I’m truly grateful that Jin thought of me first as a featuring artist. I mean, when else would I get the chance to perform in front of ARMY?”
Her words conveyed both humility and the emotional weight of the opportunity.
Yena’s new album Blooming Wings centers around themes of love and personal growth, reflecting her most authentic self. It paints a delicate narrative—from the pure feelings of first love, akin to angelic white wings blooming, to the bittersweet memory of a rainy breakup in a quiet alley. All of these moments are retold with Yena’s unique emotional sensibility.

The title track, “Being A Good Girl Hurts”, features explosive string arrangements and instrumentation, like fireworks in the middle of summer. Yena co-wrote the lyrics, encapsulating the innocent desire to be a kind, loving person, the heartbreak that follows love, and all the complex emotions involved. These are all distilled into one poignant line:
“I hate being called nice.”
The album also includes tracks like:
- “Drama Queen”
- “Hello, Goodbye”
- “Anyone But You” (featuring Miryo of Brown Eyed Girls)
- Fan-dedicated song “364”
Each song delivers a nostalgic and pure perspective on different facets of love.
After launching her “Yena Core” identity with the release of SMARTPHONE and later Hate Rodrigo, Yena continued to develop this artistic direction with last September’s Nemo Nemo and now brings even deeper emotional resonance and musical maturity in Blooming Wings. This new release further solidifies what “Yena Core” truly represents.
Choi Yena’s fourth mini album Blooming Wings was released at 6 p.m. KST on July 29 across various music platforms.
