On July 22, a touching anecdote began circulating on X (formerly Twitter), initially shared by a mother of a young child.
She described a stressful moment at an escalator when her son refused to get on, causing a minor scene. Just as she was struggling, a man stepped in and gently held the boy’s hand, guiding him down the escalator at just the right moment. That man turned out to be none other than actor Ji Chang-wook, affectionately referred to by fans as “Woogie oppa.”

The mother expressed her gratitude with hashtags like #우유빛깔지창욱 (“milky-white-skinned Ji Chang-wook”) and #지창욱미담 (“Ji Chang-wook good deed”), emphasizing how thankful she was for his timely intervention.
Another eyewitness later reposted the story, sharing their own account. “After an event, I saw a crying child at the escalator. I tried to comfort him, but before I could, Ji Chang-wook stepped up, held the boy’s hand, and said, ‘Let’s go, it’s not scary, you’re okay.’ It was such a mature and calming moment,” they recalled.

Fans have since speculated the event took place at Incheon International Airport, where Ji Chang-wook returned on July 21 after holding a fan meeting in Taipei the previous day. He then reportedly headed straight to the VIP premiere of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul, showcasing his unwavering loyalty and professional commitment.
The incident has further solidified **Ji Chang-wook’s **reputation not just as a top actor, but also as a compassionate and grounded individual.
Currently, Ji Chang-wook is filming Netflix’s upcoming original series Scandal (working title), inspired by the 2003 film Untold Scandal. He stars as Jo Won, a man who enjoys romance but doesn’t believe in love, alongside actresses Son Ye-jin and Nana.
