On July 22, an entertainment industry insider revealed that Lee Kwang-soo, Kim Woo-bin, and Do Kyung-soo are heading to Mexico for a spin-off of tvN’s variety show Green Bean, Red Bean.

The trio gathered earlier that morning at the Egg Is Coming building in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul—home to producer Na Young-seok’s company—before departing for Incheon International Airport. Reports of their filming at the airport surfaced online, and it was confirmed that their destination is Mexico. The cast will travel through Mexico City and Cancun before returning to Korea at the end of this month.

The production team told MyDaily that, “This isn’t Green Bean, Red Bean 2, but another spin-off of the original show. The concept involves the three cast members going on a trip to Mexico.”

This trip was triggered by a “special clause” from the show’s previous season. Back in February on Green Bean, Red Bean, Na Young-seok PD mentioned, “There was a special condition: serve more than 200 portions and use up 140kg of Pyeongchang potatoes.” In response, CEO Ko Joong-seok had prepared both a confirmation of non-fulfillment and fulfillment of the clause. The production team said,_ “We were in such a rush to hand them out at the end, but we used up exactly 140kg.”_

Thanks to this, Lee Kwang-soo and Do Kyung-soo successfully fulfilled the special clause.

Green Bean, Red Bean is a comedic documentary-style reality show that features the close friendship and quirky chemistry between Lee Kwang-soo, Kim Woo-bin, Do Kyung-soo, and Kim Ki-bang as they go on a relaxing “field-cation.”

Season 1, which aired in 2023, earned a peak viewership rating of 5%. Riding on its success, a spin-off titled Green Bean, Red Bean Spin-off: Cafeteria Operation was released in February. Kim Ki-bang will not be joining the Mexico trip this season.
