A Chinese national has been arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok while attempting to flee Thailand, following accusations of murdering a Thai transgender woman. The case has shocked the nation due to the tragic and brutal circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.
Shocking Crime and Arrest in Pattaya
The suspect, identified as Fu Tongyuen (42), a welder from Hubei Province, China, confessed to killing Woranun, a 25-year-old transgender woman from Nong Khai Province, after she allegedly rejected his sexual advances.
According to Pattaya City Police Station Chief, Colonel Anek Srathongyoo, the incident occurred on April 25, 2025, at a rented apartment in Soi Arunothai, central Pattaya. Surveillance footage captured Fu purchasing suspicious items before returning to the apartment.

During questioning, Fu, who appeared with facial scratches, spoke through a translator, maintaining a solemn demeanor and keeping his head bowed throughout the session. He explained that this was his third visit to Thailand, drawn by the country’s perceived safety.
Fu stated that he met Woranun near Pattaya Beach and exchanged contact details via WeChat. Unaware at first that she was transgender, he later arranged a meeting at his rented apartment. They agreed on a fee of 8,000 baht for sexual services, which Fu paid in advance. However, when Woranun refused to proceed and resisted, Fu demanded a refund of half the amount. After she declined, an argument and physical altercation broke out.
Disturbing Confession: Public In Shock
Fu claimed Woranun kicked him off the bed, after which he retaliated by jumping back onto the bed, pinning her down, and strangling her until she lost consciousness. Upon confirming her death, Fu dragged the body into the bathroom, dismembered it, cleaned up the blood, and reportedly went to sleep.
The next morning, Fu purchased a flight ticket and attempted to flee by motorcycle taxi and bus to Suvarnabhumi Airport, where he was arrested before he could leave the country.

When questioned about his motives and mental health, Fu responded, “I don’t know. I’ve never seen a doctor.” He insisted that the attack was triggered by being assaulted first and expressed a desire to apologize to the victim’s family for his actions.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, while the public reaction to the brutal nature of the crime has been one of widespread shock and anger across Thailand.
