Goo Hye-sun: All Ex-Boyfriends are Successful, Embraces Open Dating in Her 40s

In a recent interview, actress Goo Hye-sun stated that all of her former lovers have achieved professional success.

In an interview with News1 on October 4, regarding her film “Studio Goo Hye-sun”, Goo Hye-sun was asked about her feelings as she approaches her 40s. She responded, “I hope I won’t be shaken. In my 20s, I often thought, ‘I’ll never date again,’ but that never stuck. The moment I declared I wouldn’t date, I found myself dating again the next day.”

She recounted that when she broke up, she would tell herself, “I’m done with dating,” only to find herself in a new relationship shortly after. Although she now focuses on work and study, she dated fearlessly in her 20s, noting, “I never hid my relationships, while my friends often did, likely to protect their professional ambitions. Those friends are now quite successful, which I find inspiring.”

Goo Hye-sun stated that she would likely not hide a future relationship, “I’m at an age where I shouldn’t hide it. I can’t hide my feelings for someone; I want to boast about it.”

She also shared a dating experience where she was with a man who didn’t hide their relationship, “We walked hand in hand on the street. When middle school kids saw us, they asked, ‘Are you going to post this online?’ and we said, ‘Just keep it between us.’ He really kept it a secret. Then, when we were about to enter a restaurant for a date, he let go of my hand, and we broke up afterward.”

Meanwhile, Goo Hye-sun’s film “Studio Goo Hye-sun” has been invited to the 29th Busan International Film Festival. This 15-minute short film is a re-edit of the feature film “The Peach Tree”, which Goo Hye-sun produced and directed in 2012. It is edited down to highlight the New Age piano music she composed, focusing on the feature documentary film she is currently making.

The 29th Busan International Film Festival will take place from October 2 to 11 in the area of Busan Cinema Center.
