Kim Min-hee won Best Performance at the 77th Locarno International Film Festival, which took place in Switzerland on August 17th (local time), for her acting in “By the Stream”, the 32nd movie produced by director Hong Sang-soo.

When they called out her name, Kim Min-hee stood up while holding Hong Sang-soo’s hand. Taking the stage, the actress said, “I sincerely thank Locarno and the judges”. She added, “I wanted to film it longer, and 5 days were too short. However, I was very happy and had so much fun throughout that short period. Thank you”, greeting actors who worked with her in the movie.

Kim Min-hee continued, “I also want to thank viewers for their warm reviews”, adding “Director Hong Sang-soo, who made such a beautiful movie,… I love your movie so much. Thank you for allowing me to work with you. Be happy everyone”.

Returning to her seat, Kim Min-hee smiled brightly and then gave the trophy to Hong Sang-soo. The actress aroused keen attention when she leaned her face on director Hong’s shoulder. Hong Sang-soo also looked at Kim Min-hee with a happy and affectionate smile.

The two were rumored to be dating in 2016 and later confirmed they had become lovers despite the fact that Hong was married at the time. They have been criticized under the label of a “cheating couple.” Although the two have been boycotted in Korea, they have been heating up the Korean online community due to their attendance at overseas film festivals and their recent dates.

Again, Kim Min-hee’s cute action and Hong Sang-soo’s sweet eyes are drawing attention. Korean netizens have been posting criticizing comments of the couple.

“By the Stream” became the 4th film by director Hong Sang-soo that was officially invited to the Locarno Film Festival. Aside from Kim Min-hee, the film also starred Kwon Hae-hyo, Jo Yoon-hee, Ha Sang-guk, etc. In addition, Kim Min-hee was also named in the credit as a producer.

Founded in 1946, Locarno International Film Festival is held annually in Locarno, Switzerland in August. This is one of the oldest film festivals in the world.

“By the Stream” will premiere in Korea in the second half of this year after its world premiere at the Locarno International Film Festival.
