On the 16th, their agency Fantagio announced on Weki Meki‘s official fan cafe, “After receiving much love and support from fans over the past seven years, Weki Meki has decided to end their official group activities as of August 8, 2024, following lengthy and serious discussions with the agency.”
The agency stated, “Members Ji Suyeon, Choi Yoojung, and Kim Doyeon are currently in deep discussions to make the best choice for their future as artists. Meanwhile, Elly, Sei, Lua, Rina, and Lucy have decided to end their exclusive contracts after continuous discussions.”
“We sincerely thank Elly, Sei, Lua, Rina, and Lucy for their brilliant achievements as Weki Meki members. Although the group activities have ended, we will continue to do our best to support their future endeavors. We ask for your continued interest and support for the Weki Meki members as they take their first steps towards their second leap.”
Weki Meki debuted as an eight-member girl group in 2017. The group drew attention as it included Choi Yoojung and Kim Doyeon from I.O.I, as well as Elly and Sei, who participated in Mnet’s ‘Produce 101’ Season 1.
