BTS's Jungkook has solidified his position as a "global pop star" by being nominated for the 'MTV Video Music Awards' for three consecutive years
According to the list of nominees for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (2024 MTV VMA), announced on the 6th (local time), Jungkook has been nominated in two categories: ‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘Best K-Pop’ for his song “Seven (feat. Latto).”
Notably, in the ‘Best Collaboration’ category, Jungkook was nominated alongside artists such as Taylor Swift, Post Malone, and Drake, showcasing his status as a global pop star.
In 2022, Jungkook was the first Korean solo artist to be nominated in the ‘Song of Summer’ category for his collaboration with Charlie Puth, “Left and Right (Feat. Jung Kook of BTS).” This marks the third consecutive year that Jungkook has been nominated for the MTV VMA. Last year, “Seven (feat. Latto)” was selected as the winner of the ‘Song of Summer,’ making Jungkook the first Korean solo artist to win in this category.
The 2024 MTV VMA will be held on September 10 at the UBS Arena in New York.
Jungkook’s first solo single, “Seven (feat. Latto),” released in July of last year, became a global hit upon its release, quickly rising as a “mega hit song.” The song achieved remarkable success on major global music charts, including reaching No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the UK Official Singles Chart. It also achieved 1 billion streams on Spotify in record time.
